  • 1 2/3 cup plain flour
  • 1/3 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 380grams top’n’fill caramel
  • 125grams butter, softened
  • 1teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup dutch cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar

Method

Step 1 of 8

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line two large baking trays with baking paper.

Step 2 of 8

Beat butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl until pale and creamy.

Step 3 of 8

Beat in egg.

Step 4 of 8

Sift flours together.

Step 5 of 8

Add to the butter mixture and stir until combined.

Step 6 of 8

Follow vanilla cream biscuits recipe from step 1 to 5, adding cocoa at step 4 and chocolate chips at step 5.

Halve dough. Roll out one portion between two sheets of baking paper until 5mm thick. Cut out 15 biscuits using a 6cm round cutter. Place onto the prepared trays. Bake for 15 minutes or until firm. Set aside to cool on trays. Repeat with the remaining dough.

Step 8 of 8

Stir caramel until smooth. Spoon or spread onto half the biscuits. Top with remaining biscuits. Add a chocolate heart to the top of each, using a dot of caramel to stick them on. Leave to set, then dust with extra cocoa.
