Description
For a sweet treat that's yummy on its own or as decoration on a cake or a cheeseboard, this candied orange peel is ready with just two ingredients.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Peel oranges and reserve flesh for another use. Flatten peel and carefully cut into strips.
Step 2 of 4
Bring a medium saucepan of water to the boil. Add peel. Simmer for 5 minutes, then drain. (Repeat at least two more times to remove bitterness.)
Step 3 of 4
Add 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar to saucepan. Cook, stirring until sugar dissolves, ensuring you do not boil the mixture. Add peel and boil for about 30 minutes or until translucent. Transfer to a wire rack, ensuring pieces are separated. Allow to dry for about 1 hour.
Step 4 of 4
Place remaining sugar in a small bowl. In batches, toss peel in sugar to lightly coat, then place on a clean wire rack to dry.
