Description

Easy to make bread. No kneading, can be made in a few hours
Instruction tip
You could also add flavours to your dough, garlic, rosemary etc before raising.

Method

Step 1 of 8

Mix all flour and salt in a large bowl, add yeast and mix well.

Step 2 of 8

Add water, then stir well , until all the flour is mixed in. The dough will be loose, you will not be able to knead it. You may need to add water to get the consistency, very loose, but not runny.

Step 3 of 8

Leave dough in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap in a warm, draught free spot for two to three hours or until it has doubled in size. Keep an eye on it, if it seems to not be rising, place it in a warmer spot.

Step 4 of 8

Line your pot with baking paper. Place your large oven safe pot into oven with the lid on. Preheat your oven to 230 degrees for at least half an hour before cooking.

Step 5 of 8

Place a clean tea towel on the bench and sprinkle generously with the reserved flour. Using a scraper, tip the risen dough onto the tea towel. It should be wobbly with lots of bubbles Lift the tea towel by the corners and gently roll the dough into a rounded shape. Don't be too pedantic, it doesn't need to be perfect.

Step 6 of 8

Use the tea towel to carefully tip the dough into the hot pot. Replace lid.

Step 7 of 8

Bake for 30 minutes with the lid on. Bake a further 10 to 15 mins with the lid off. (This will give a crispy, but not hard crust)

Step 8 of 8

When cooked, set aside on a cooling rack for 10 mins before slicing.
