- 2tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 brown onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 500grams beef mince
- 1tablespoons mixed dried herbs
- 500grams Macro Organic tomato, garlic & basil pasta sauce
- 2tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups salt-reduced vegetable stock
- 500grams fresh gnocchi
- 1/2 bunch basil, leaves picked
- 165grams Woolworths traditional bocconcini 220g, drained and torn
Description
Take a trip to Italy via your rice cooker with this super simple, tasty lean beef bolognese and cloud-soft gnocchi. Top with basil, bocconcini and cracked pepper for the ultimate flavour sensation.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Press switch to ‘cook’ mode in a 10-cup-capacity rice cooker. Heat oil in rice cooker, then add onion and garlic and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened. Add mince and herb blend and cook for a further 10 minutes, breaking lumps up with a wooden spoon, or until browned.

Add pasta sauce, paste and stock and cook uncovered for a further 5 minutes.
Step 3 of 4
Stir gnocchi into sauce mixture and cook uncovered for a further 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn to ‘keep warm’ mode and simmer for a further 10 minutes. Turn heat off and stir half of the basil through pasta mixture.
Step 4 of 4
Divide mixture among bowls. Top with bocconcini and remaining basil. Season with freshly cracked black pepper.
