- 350grams gluten-free self-raising flour
- 1teaspoons gluten-free baking powder
- 1teaspoons mustard powder
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 60grams unsalted butter
- 200grams Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1tablespoons chives, chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 5-6tablespoons buttermilk
- 1tablespoons butter (to serve)

Method
Step 1 of 6
Sift the flour, baking powder, mustard powder and cayenne into a large bowl.
Step 2 of 6
Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Mix in 175g of the grated cheese and the herbs.
Step 3 of 6
Beat the eggs with the buttermilk and mix into the flour, making a soft dough - do not over work the dough.
Step 4 of 6
Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface and roll out to a thickness of 2.5 cm (1 inch). Stamp out 12 scones using a 4-5 cm (2 inch)cutter and place onto a baking sheet.
Step 5 of 6
Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the scones and bake in a preheated oven, 220 C(Gas 7), for 15 minutes, until risen and golden.
Step 6 of 6
Serve the scones warm, with butter.
