- 6 extra strong black tea bags
- 2tablespoons caster sugar
- 4 pears, peeled, stems intact (just ripe)
- 1 cup Woolworths vanilla custard
Description
With just four ingredients, these black-tea poached pears are a very simple way to craft an elegant dessert for you and your loved ones.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Bring 6 cups water to the boil in a medium 20cm (base measurement) saucepan over high heat. Add tea bags. Remove from heat. Set aside for 4 minutes to brew.
Step 2 of 4
Remove tea bags. Stir in sugar. Return to the simmer over high heat. Add pears. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cover with a 20cm round of baking paper. Simmer for 25 minutes or until pears are tender. (Firmer pears may require longer cooking.) Remove pears and set aside.
Step 3 of 4
Increase heat to medium-high. Simmer tea mixture for 10 minutes to further reduce. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 4 of 4
Divide pears among serving dishes. Spoon over warm tea mixture. Top with custard. Serve.
