  • 1/3 cup white rice
  • 1tablespoons butter
  • 3tablespoons parsley, finely chopped
  • 2teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2-3 cup chicken stock
  • 410grams can tomato puree
  • sourdough, toasted (to serve)
  • 500grams beef mince

Method

Step 1 of 4

Add enough water to a large saucepan until 1cm deep. Add butter and place over medium heat until melted.

Step 2 of 4

Roll mince into balls, about 1 tbs for each, and add to pan. Shake pan gently until meatballs are browned all over.

Step 3 of 4

Add tomato purée, cinnamon, 2 tbs parsley and rice to pan. Cover with stock (or water).

Step 4 of 4

Cook on medium heat until it bubbles then reduce heat to low and cook, partially covered, for 1 hour, adding a little water if too thick. Garnish with remaining parsley and serve with sourdough.
