You can substitute fresh cherries for tinned cherries.
Method
Step 1 of 5
Preheat oven to 180C. Lightly grease and line a large cake tin with baking paper and set aside.
Step 2 of 5
In a mixing bowl cream butter and sugar together.
Step 3 of 5
Add the eggs one at a time and beat well or until well combined.
Step 4 of 5
In another bowl mix the cherries through the flour and then gradually fold into the butter and caster sugar mixture and mix until well combine.
Step 5 of 5
Pour batter into the cake tin and bake in a moderate oven for about 1 hour or until cooked when a skewer is inserted and comes out clean.
