Easy kids’ recipe for rice paper rolls
Rice paper rolls are the perfect quick and healthy lunchbox treat! Get the kids in the kitchen to roll up these colourful and delicious parcels. The best part is kids can choose from an array of fresh vegetables, teaching them the importance of eating a colourful rainbow!
Before you begin: Safety first!
When kids step into the kitchen, the first thing they need to learn is; safety first! Teach your little ones to wash their hands thoroughly, and adults should always be around when it comes to handling sharp knives and working with hot objects such as stove tops and ovens.

Step 1: Pick and mix
Combine chicken, rice, coriander, mayonnaise and salt-reduced soy sauce in a bowl and mix well.
Top tip:
Save time in the kitchen by using a Woolworths ready-to-go barbecue chicken. Remove the skin and shred the breast for a super quick meal! Or swap your chicken out for a different protein, such as a hard boiled egg or even tuna.

Step 2: Slice and dice
Adults carefully slice the cucumber and avocado while kids can wash and dry the spinach leaves and snow pea shoots.
Mix it up:
If your kids aren’t fan of cucumber and snow pea shoots, mix these wraps up with different veggies like lettuce, capsicum or carrot. The sky’s the limit with delicious vegie additions!
“Watch your fingers when slicing cucumber and avocado, or get an adult to do this bit!”

Step 3: Time to fill
After soaking the rice paper wraps in lukewarm water, spread onto a damp tea towel and fill with your selection of delicious vegie, protein and grain fillings.
Top tip:
Be careful not to soak the wrap for too long otherwise it will tear and become tricky to roll.

Step 4: Wrap and roll
Once you’ve placed your choice of fillings on the middle bottom third of your rice paper roll, fold up the bottom, then the sides. Then roll from the bottom upwards, carefully making sure no ingredients fall out.
Top tip:
Make sure you leave enough space below and on each side to wrap up, just like you would a present!

Step 5: On a roll!
Once you’ve finished roling, add your super rice paper roll to a plate, serve with salt-reduced soy dipping sauce and enjoy!
Activity time:
Make a platter of rainbow rice paper rolls using all the different coloured vegies you can think of!
