Woolworths is proud to partner with Share the Dignity to help eradicate period poverty in Australia. Period poverty is the term for being unable to afford necessary period care products, and this is the unfortunate reality for so many.
Share the Dignity is an Australian charity that started in 2015 to assist the homeless and those experiencing domestic violence. Provision of free period care items now extends to schools and colleges, charities and via other community services so that essential personal care items can be accessed by those who can’t readily afford them.
Woolworths partnered with Share the Dignity in 2019 to help deliver this practical community support. We donate 5 cents from every period care sale each March and August, and to date more than $3 million has been donated.
In addition to this financial support, more than 1 million period care products have been collected in Woolworths stores since the partnership began. These donated period care products have been redistributed to more than 3000 groups to help those in need.
Funds donated by Woolworths have allowed Share the Dignity to install and maintain an additional 109 Dignity Vending Machines, which dispense free period packs discretely and free of charge.
Please join us to support Share the Dignity’s work. Pink Collection Boxes are available in our stores each March and August for donations of period care products. Period products collected during these drives are redistributed to help those in need. Cash donations can also be made to Share the Dignity year round, using the Donation Button which is on all Woolworths checkouts. Thank you for your support.
Woolworths is proud to partner with Share the Dignity and is authorised to fundraise on their behalf. 100% of funds raised in our stores and via our website through various appeals for Share the Dignity are donated to Share the Dignity to help address period poverty through the provision of free period products and community education services.
