Food Diversion for Animal Feed

Farmer feeding his cattle

Woolworths has a national food rescue & recycling program across all of our stores, where we divert surplus food waste away from landfill, and towards the most beneficial alternatives in the community.

Our priority is the donation of surplus edible food to charities who feed people in need. In addition to this, we also support over 1,000 local farmers, hundreds of wildlife carers and dozens of schools and community groups with the donation of surplus food which they used for animal feed or composting.

The donation of this surplus food not only helps us grow a little greener by diverting it from landfill, but also helps care for the community by off-setting the cost of purchasing food by local farmers and volunteer wildlife carers.

There is no fee for this program, all food is donated free of charge. This program is open to commercial and non-commercial operations alike.

If you represent one of these organisations and would like to collect surplus food on a regular basis, please speak to your local Store Manager, or email our State Administration team.
