Description
Two favourites meet in one delectable meal with these minced pies encased in soft, pillowy steam buns. They’re easy on the pocket, easy on the tastebuds and guaranteed to go down a treat.
Method
Step 1 of 4
Whisk yeast, sugar, salt and 240ml warm water in a jug. Stand for 5 minutes or until frothy. Place flour in a large bowl. Add yeast mixture and bring together to form a dough. Knead until smooth. Place back into the large bowl, cover and set aside in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 2 of 4
Meanwhile, heat 1 tbs oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook, stirring to break up any lumps, for 3 minutes or until browned. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes or until tender. Add peas and half of the onion, then cook for a further 1-2 minutes. Add gravy and 1 cup water, and cook, stirring, for 2-3 minutes or until thickened. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 3 of 4
Roll dough into a 40cm-long log. Cut log into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12cm round. Fill each dough round with 1 heaped tbs beef mixture. Holding the dough in your hand, pinch and fold the dough together to seal and enclose filling.
Step 4 of 4
Heat remaining oil in the same frying pan over medium-high heat. Add buns and 3/4 cup water. Bring to a boil and place a lid over the pan. Reduce heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes. Uncover and cook a further 5 minutes or until water has evaporated. Sprinkle with remaining onion. Serve with sauce.
