  • 1 piece large brown onion, peeled, trimmed and halved
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 stick carrot, halved
  • 2 stalks celery, halved
  • 40milliliter olive oil
  • 500grams beef mince
  • 500grams pork mince
  • 130grams Mutti tomato paste
  • 800grams Mutti Polpa Basil
  • 125milliliter cooking cream
  • 600grams pasta (pasta of your choice)
  • parmesan cheese, grated (to serve)

Method

Step 1 of 5

Place the onion, garlic, carrot, celery in the food processor and blitz until finely chopped. Heat the oil in a large heavy based saucepan over medium heat.

Step 2 of 5

Add the chopped vegetables and cook for 5-6 minutes or until softened.

Step 3 of 5

Add the meat and cook for 6 minutes, breaking up lumps with a wooden, or until browned. Add tomato paste and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the paste has changed colour.

Step 4 of 5

Add the Mutti Polpa Basil and season with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil then reduce heat to low, cover with a lid and simmer for 30 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Remove from the heat and stir through the cream.

Step 5 of 5

Cook pasta in a large saucepan of salted boiling water, according to packet instructions. Drain. Carefully fold the pasta through the Bolognese sauce and divide between serving bowls. Top with parmesan cheese to serve.
