100 mitey years, check your change for the limited edition 2023 VEGEMITE Centenary $2 Coins*

Each week from 17th May 2023, Woolworths Supermarkets will be releasing a new $2 coin design into the cash tills across a 3 week period. These can be collected as part of your normal change and by change only, strictly available while stocks last.

• Week 1 - from 17th May 2023: Vegemite Coin design - Yellow
• Week 2 - from 24th May 2023: Vegemite Coin design - Black; and
• Week 3 - from 31st May 2023: Vegemite Coin design - Red.

Yes, the Vegemite coins are a legal tender as they have been minted by the Royal Australian Mint. These coins are real currency and can be used for purchases everywhere Australian coins are accepted.

Each coin in the series features an illustration of a different stage of Vegemite. A coloured circle in the Vegemite brand colours encompasses each illustration and the words VEGEMITE CENTENARY shape the top of the circle. Each coin also features a different Vegemite tagline. The first coin features a jar of Vegemite as its focal point, with the words “100 Mitey Years” at the bottom. The second coin features a slice of Vegemite toast, with the words “Tastes like Australia” at the bottom. The third coin features a child eating a slice of Vegemite on toast, with the words “Happy Little Vegemites” at the bottom.

These coins were designed by Royal Australian Mint coin designer Aaron Baggio.

The 2023 Centenary of Vegemite $2 Coins will feature the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse. Struck with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by British engraver Jody Clark, the Memorial Obverse has one notable addition – the Queen’s years of reign – reading “Elizabeth II 1952-2022”. A limited number of coins released in 2023 will have the Memorial Obverse, making these coins even more collectable.

There is no minimum spend, however change of $2.00 or more is required to be given as change to the customer. The $2 coins are limited to 5 (five) coins per transaction.

All coins are distributed by chance and are available while stocks last.

The Royal Australian Mint has minted only a limited number of these coins. The Vegemite $2 coins are available only while stocks last. Woolworths are unable to order more. To allow all our customers the chance to collect the coins we have limited the $2 coins to 5 per transaction.
