Bonnie & Ken Ravenhill

Narrikup, Western Australia

Western Australian dairy farmers Bonnie and Ken Ravenhill are focussed in creating a sustainable future for their family farm, and are implementing a feeding solution which utilises their farm’s natural climate to benefit their herd, paddocks and team.

With a $100,000 grant from the Woolworths Dairy Innovation Fund, they will introduce mobile troughing to support a more open range approach to feeding, increasing the wellbeing of their herd and creating more efficient effluent management.

Mobile troughing will allow the Ravenhills to rotate their herd across different paddocks more frequently in summer, providing fresh paddocks for greater hygiene and comfort, helping paddocks regenerate quicker, and creating a natural dispersion of effluent to aid fertilisation and reduce labour.

Bonnie and Ken live on their Narrikup farm near Albany, WA with their four school-aged children. They milk around 1,300 cows year-round and supply Brownes with 12 million litres of milk annually.

Smart solutions like the Ravenhill’s show how practical initiatives, bringing a new approach to everyday challenges on the farm, can deliver benefits across the board. We’re proud to back the Ravenhills and their family farm through the Dairy Innovation Fund.
