Woolworths
Dairy Innovation Fund
About
The Dairy Innovation Fund was launched in November 2020, to invest a total of $5 million in around 60 businesses over three years. The fund was designed in consultation with peak industry groups Australian Dairy Farmers, Dairy Australia, National Farmers’ Federation, Premium Milk Ltd and the NSW Farmers’ Association Dairy Committee.
These grants will support on-farm improvements that deliver innovation, efficiency, greater resilience or enhanced sustainability. Our contribution to farms will fund new capital improvements or technology, and provide additional funds to help expand existing projects.
In addition to the Woolworths Dairy Innovation Fund, we also provide grants to farmers through our Organic Growth Fund, partnering with organic fruit and vegetable farmers to make on-site investments which will increase the availability of organic produce in Australia.
The first round of the Woolworths Dairy Innovation fund provided $2 million in grants to 24 dairy farms across Australia to support innovation, efficiency and season resilience.
In November 2022, the second round of the fund awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to 16 farmers across the country for projects including irrigation pipelines, thermal storage, sustainability improvements, herd monitoring technology and dairy automation.
By November 2023, the fund will provide over $1.4 million to help support 17 Australian Dairy farmers' continued innovation improvements.
