    Why is Woolworths the only distributor – doesn’t it have to come through banks?

    This coin program is a custom minting program produced in partnership with Woolworths, who will be releasing these coins through their tills.

    When can I collect each $2 Coin?

    Each week from 13 February, Woolworths will be releasing a new $2 coin design into the cash tills across a four-week period. These can be collected as part of your normal change and by chance only, strictly available while stocks last.

    • Week 1 - from 13 February 2019, the Mr Squiggle & Friends Coin design: Mr Squiggle
    • Week 2 - from 20 February 2019, the Mr Squiggle & Friends Coin design: Bill
    • Week 3 - from 27 February 2019, the Mr Squiggle & Friends Coin design: Gus
    • Week 4 - from 6 March 2019, the Mr Squiggle & Friends Coin design: Blackboard

    Are these coins real currency or just a collector item?

    Yes, the Mr Squiggle coins are legal tender. They were minted by the Royal Australian Mint and have the required legislated approval. The $2 and $1 coins can be used for purchases everywhere Australian coins are accepted. Please note, the special edition 1 cent coin is legal tender but cannot be used for purchases.

    Why are the Mr Squiggle $2 coins and Coin Collection Folder limited editions?

    The Royal Australian Mint has minted only a limited number of these coins, therefore they are of limited edition and available only while stocks last. Woolworths are unable to order more. To allow all our customers the chance to collect the coins, we have limited the $2 coins to 2 per transaction and the Coin Collection Folders are limited to 5 per transaction.
