Read full article >We spent more time at home in 2020 than ever before – and a lot of that time was spent in the kitchen. We needed ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to keep things fresh. So, we searched for more cooking inspiration and ways to upskill in the kitchen as the year progressed and we got used to our new normal at home.
In looking back at the unprecedented year that was, Google Trends has revealed its list of recipes Australia searched for most. While the top recipe was for something we couldn’t eat (hand sanitiser), the majority of Google searches involved baking. You wanted to find recipes for bread and sweets, and when you weren’t baking, you were after Aussie classic dishes, a sure sign we all needed a little extra comfort food this year.
Here, we look at some of the recipes you searched the most and bring you our version of each.
01 Hot cross buns
Perhaps it was all the extra time at home we had around Easter, or maybe it was a fun baking activity you tried with the whole family during school holidays.
