Meet our Woolworths Bricks Farm farmer

Hi! I'm one of Woolworths’ fruit and veg growers. Some may call me a farmer.

In my job, I ensure the production of fruit and vegetables – from seed to harvest – and supply them to Woolworths for Australian families to enjoy.

No two days are the same, but most mornings I wake up very early before getting to work on ensuring everything is running smoothly to grow our crops. That includes monitoring soil, checking the growth and development of the fruit or veg, and keeping the crop nourished and protected. I also deal with the business side, which could be meetings, budgets, or checking in with our staff. I’m usually home in the afternoon, which gives me some time to spend with my family.

Sometimes, we might even have a visit from a Woolworths agronomist to assess the grow of the crop as well as potential pests or diseases that may affect our crop.

I am proud to say that we monitor our water use and only use what is needed. It’s important to minimise waste and keep our land healthy so future generations can enjoy it too.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is to see every stage of the fruit and veg’s growing journey: from planting the seed to watching it grow, to harvesting and packing it up before it goes to Woolworths and then onto your plate. It’s a wonderful feeling to see all of our hard work make Australian families so happy.

My favourite fruit is an apple, and I enjoy eating them in any form – but I especially love them as a healthy snack or a homemade apple crumble.
