Hand Washing:
(for washable silk, lace and lingerie and delicate items)
1/3 - 1/2 cup
Always follow washing instructions on the garment.
- Thoroughly dissolve Softly Pure Soap Flakes in hot water, then add cold water to bring down to the required temperature, preferably warm, before adding clothes.
- Squeeze suds gently through clothing, avoiding rubbing, wringing and undue agitation when washing fine articles.
- Rinse thoroughly in warm water.
- Remove excess moisture. Do not tumble dry. Dry away from direct heat and sunlight to prevent yellowing of fabrics.
- Note: Silk should be dry cleaned unless the label specifies that it is washable.
Machine Washing:
(suitable for top loading machines)

Always follow washing instructions on the garment.
- Thoroughly dissolve Softly Pure Soap Flakes in hot water, before adding to the machine. Not recommended for front loading, high efficiency machines.
Washing Cloth Nappies:
- Rinse first to remove excess soiling.
- Soak nappies in cold water using a sanitiser if required.
- Machine wash in hot water with Softly Pure Soap Flakes.
- Rinse thoroughly.
Other Washable Items
(instructions for washing feather down, continental quilts, parkas and sleeping bags)
Always follow washing instructions on product label. We recommend washing woolens in Softly Wool Mix.
- Dissolve 1 1/2 cups of Softly Pure Soap Flakes in boiling water and add to a bath 14/3 full of water.
- Immerse item and soak for 15-30 minutes.
- Rub stains with Sunlight/Velvet Laundry Bar Soap.
- Squeeze out excess water and place into a basket lined with plastic and carry to washing machine.
- Place evenly around the bowl and spin on normal cycle.
- Shake well and dry over 2-3 lines on a clothes line; turn and shake frequently.
- To avoid feather down drying in clumps, complete drying in a tumble dryer. If necessary, dry larger items at a laundromat.
