Woolworths & WIRES Food For Wildlife Program

Woolworths and WIRES have embarked on a very ambitious project to support 6,000 registered carers across more than 200 wildlife groups nationwide, with the provision of food for the wildlife in their care.

Since the Woolworths & WIRES began back in January 2020 in response to the devastating impact of the Black Summer bushfires, Woolworths Team and customers have raised over $750,000. For registered wildlife carers, almost all of whom are volunteers, the single largest expense is food. So now Woolies and WIRES have teamed up to help provide food for as many species, in as many locations as we can, across Australia.

Over 150 registered wildlife groups now connected to the program can access food through a grants program that funds access to specific dietary items through specialist wildlife food suppliers. We also have over 130 local carers regularly collecting surplus fresh food from their local Woolworths store, with more added weekly.
