  • 3tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large brown onion, peeled and diced
  • 4 clove fresh garlic finely chopped
  • 2 rashers bacon, diced
  • 2 portobello mushrooms, diced
  • 500grams pork mince
  • 500grams veal mince
  • 700grams leggos passata sauce (jar)
  • 1 pinch dried italian herbs (generous sprinkling)
  • 1 pinch salt (sprinkling)

Description

A favourite meal of ours I've been making for years and always have a few containers in the freezer ready to go!
Instruction tip
I freeze excess into small containers ready whenever we want an easy meal option!

Method

Step 1 of 6

Gather all ingredients. And prepare onion, garlic, bacon and mushrooms.

Step 2 of 6

In a large pan add the olive oil and onion. Fry on medium heat until translucent then add the garlic and continue to toss for a few more minutes.

Step 3 of 6

Then add the chopped bacon and continue to cook a further 5 minutes stirring as you go.

Step 4 of 6

Next add 500g of meat at a time and stir on higher heat until all browned.

Step 5 of 6

Next add all remaining ingredients and bring back to the boil stirring together well.

Step 6 of 6

Turn down heat and simmer with lid on for 1 hour. Remove lid, stir and simmer until thick and saucey. This takes approx 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with your favourite pasta and grated or shaved romano cheese.
