  • 375milliliter water
  • 375milliliter red wine vinegar
  • 2tablespoons sugar
  • 1tablespoons salt
  • 3tablespoons pickling spices, wrapped in cheesecloth
  • 1/2 large head red cabbage, cored, thinly sliced

Description

Pickled red cabbage is simple to make, adds a pop of colour to salads or it can be warmed up and served with roasted meats such as pork loin or lamb.

Method

Step 1 of 2

Add the water, red wine vinegar, sugar, salt and pickling spices to a large pot brining it up to a simmer on the stovetop. Once simmering, add the cabbage cooking for 20 minutes. Remove from the heat to cool to room temperature.

Step 2 of 2

Once cooled off add to mason jar placing them into the the fridge until completely chilled before placing on the lids.
