  • 500grams beef mince
  • 1/4 cup beef stock
  • 500grams bolognese sauce
  • 1 large red onion, peeled and finely diced
  • 1 stalk celery, finely diced
  • 1 large carrot, finely diced
  • 500grams white sauce, store bought
  • 200grams cheddar cheese, grated
  • 3tablespoons basil, half chopped, half for garnish
  • 1tablespoons oregano, chopped
  • 16 sheets lasagne sheets, roughly 250g
  • 20grams parmesan (to garnish)
  • 8 small baby tomatoes, halved (to garnish)

Description

A classic Italian lasagne. Meaty, creamy with a hint of herb running through the dish.

Method

Step 1 of 5

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C. Heat up a non-stick pan to a medium heat and fry the mine for 10 minutes while tossing until the meat turns to brown.

Step 2 of 5

Set the mince to one side, wipe the pan down and now fry the onion, celery, carrot for 3 minutes while tossing. Add the herbs to the pan and fry for a further minute and then add the mince back to the pan.

Add the been stock and the bolognese sauce to the pan and allow to simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce starts to reduce.

Step 4 of 5

In a deep baking tray, layer the mince with some pasta sheets, then with some white sauce, then some cheddar cheese.

Step 5 of 5

Repeat the kayer process 3 times before placing in the oven to bake for 1 hour and serve with parmesan on the side and garnish with basil and tomatoes.
