Method
Step 1 of 2
To make choc-orange buttercream, place butter in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on medium for 5 minutes or until pale and creamy. Turn mixer speed to low and gradually add icing mixture, beating well until combined between each addition. Scrape down sides of the mixer. Add cocoa and milk and mix on medium until well combined. Set aside.
Step 2 of 2
Slice off the tops of the cakes to make them level. Place one cake onto a large flat serving plate or cake board. Place approximately 1 cup buttercream onto the top of the cake, and use a spatula or spoon to spread to the edges. Place the second cake on top and repeat the process. Place final cake on top and push down gently. Use remaining buttercream to cover the outside of the cake.
