  • 260grams butter, save 10g for greasing
  • 175grams golden syrup
  • 175grams light muscovado sugar
  • 400grams porridge oats
  • 50grams crunchy mixed-grain cereal
  • 175grams ready-to-eat dried apricots, chopped

Method

Step 1 of 4

Grease a shallow 18 x 28 cm nonstick baking tin.

Step 2 of 4

Place the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a large saucepan and heat gently, stirring, until the butter has melted.

Step 3 of 4

Add the oats, cereal and apricots and stir well to mix. Tip the mixture into the baking tin and spread evenly.

Step 4 of 4

Bake in a preheated oven, 180°C for 15-20 minutes until golden. Cut into 15 bars, cool slightly, then remove from the tin. The bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
