Bringing a sustainability focus to the fore

Paringi Farms

Paringi Farms is a family owned and operated vegetable farm producing organic tomatoes and capsicums.

Located at Paringi near Mildura in Victoria, Paringi Farms is owned and managed by third generation farming brothers Scott, Fred and Daniel Kazzi. The brothers have recently been successful recipients of the Woolworths Organic Growth Fund and will use the opportunity to convert the farms electricity supply to renewable sources as well as invest in new packaging equipment which will enable utilisation of more sustainable packaging sources.

A passion for agriculture and a desire to produce wholesome, nutritious food, led the Sydney based Kazzi brothers to purchase their Paringi farm five years ago and begin the conversion of parts of their farm to certified organic just three years ago.

The Kazzi brothers applied for the Woolworths Organic Growth Fund to enable the conversion of electricity supplied to the farm to a renewable source, namely solar, further enhancing the sustainability of their farm. The Woolworths Organic Growth Fund will be used to also invest in packaging equipment to assist with reducing the use of plastic packing and using materials from renewable sources.

“People are beginning to realise produce isn’t grown in a shop, it has a story behind it. For us it’s getting back to nature, getting back to how my father and grandfather farmed. We want to look after the land and feed people more nutritious food,” explained Scott Kazzi.

“The Woolworths Organic Fund will enable us to supply Woolworths customers with high quality, certified organic produce including tomatoes and capsicum as well as other fruit and vegetables as the farm expands giving us the ability to respond to consumer demands as the industry grows,” Scott said.
