CHAMPAGNE MELONS

Champagne Melons

Champagne melons have a sweet and refreshing taste that’s great as a fresh treat. They’re usually slightly oval in shape, with pale-green skin, striped with darker green. Their flesh is a pale golden colour, with a crisp texture like that of watermelon, and medium-sized black seeds. Available between July and December, champagne melons are great eaten fresh from store on their own or in salads, or juiced to make refreshing drinks.

To Buy

Look for champagne melons with hard skins. They should feel relatively heavy for their size, with a pleasant aroma.

To Store

Store whole champagne melons at room temperature for up to 1 week. Once cut, wrap in plastic and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

To Prepare

Cut champagne melon into wedges and enjoy straight away. Alternatively, cut in half then peel away the skin, remove the seeds and dice or slice as required.
